Securing the Business Process Industry: Facilitating the BPO Industry to Meet Compliance Challenges Launch of "eSecure"
12 Dec 2005

After its much touted launch of E-Kaliber package aimed at creating a pool of skilled manpower Call Center Association of India, unveiled the new age security product “e-secure”. The product aimed at filling the existing gap of security vulnerabilities among the Business Process Outsourcing industry was inaugurated by Mr. Arvind Gupta, Joint Secretary, National Security Council Secretariat, in the Seminar on Securing the Business Process Industry organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) here today.

According to Lt. Gen. S.S. Mehta, Advisor CII, “Security vulnerability has emerged as the biggest threat to companies across industry verticals. To remain competitive especially in the BPO business, there is a greater need of having a robust security system in place in order to maintain the confidence among clients.”

According to Mr. Arvind Gupta, Joint Secretary, and National Security Council Secretariat, “Globally security threats have surpassed the physical domain alone, and it has entered the cyber domain as well. The events of security threats have taken national proportions and have the irritable possibility of hampering economic growth.”

Sam Chopra, President Call Center Association of India, said, “CCAI has been working closely with CII as the voice of the BPO industry and has been successfully instrumental in developing and offering solutions which cater to the specific needs of the industry. “eSecure” is yet another product after e-Kaliber (A Skills Initiative) which is developed specifically to the security needs of the industry.”

Mr. Felix Mohan, Director, SecureSynergy commented, “Today, the spot light is on the trustworthiness of BPI (Business Process Industry) operations. Customer data protection and privacy has become the overriding factor for success of the Business Process Industry operations. Not only do the bottom-lines of the BPI companies depend on assuring the privacy, confidentiality and integrity of customer information -- their very survival depends on it”.

About eSecure
The eSecure product is a suite of enabling security assurance services that would be provided by CII and Call Centre Association of India in collaboration with SecureSynergy. The purpose of eSecure is to empower and facilitate call centres and the Business Process Industry to meet the challenges of data protection and privacy of customer information by providing ‘continuous and proactive security assurance’ at a very nominal, and affordable, cost amounting to approximately Rs 4200 to 8000 per month depending on the size and number of locations of the call centre.

The eSecure Suit consists of 4 distinct, but interrelated components that together provide a comprehensive coverage of the entire fabric of information security requirements of the Business Process Industry. These components are - Best Practices and Policies, Audit and current state reviews, Awareness and corporate training programs, and technology implementation and deployment services.
